Songs of Innocence and of Experience
Released: Oct 2004
Winning two Grammys (Best Classical/Choral album), this huge production is delightfully accessible. Bolcom's setting of William Blake's poetry calls for a pastiche of styles from folk, rock and jazz to choral, romantic excess and modernist dissonance. A dozen vocalists, a few choirs, electronic instruments, a full orchestra (and a fiddler!) all dazzle in turn.
