The idea of the acclaimed actor covering rock songs in his inimitable spoken word style is not new, but the list of big-shot guests here certainly is. On 2004's Has Been, Shatner was backed by Ben Folds Five, but this time out artists like Brian May, Peter Frampton, Ritchie Blackmore and Bootsy Collins, believe it or not, are all onboard , gladly offering musical backing on songs either they or their band wrote as they get absolutely mudered by Shatner. "Rocket Man" is transcendent, though, and Brad Paisley's appearance in "Space Cowboy" may be the album's weirdest moment.
