Human Animal
Wolf Eyes
Released:
Sep 2006
Label:
Sub Pop Records
Wolf Eyes' second album for Sub Pop, saw the departure of founding member Aaron Dilloway, and it does not have the single-ready "songs" Burned Mind had. For some this will be a relief, proving Wolf Eyes have not lost their interest in bumming people out. The beats are buried, the metallic scratches and backwards nightmare sounds are relentlessly ugly and mutterer/choker Nate Young channels the disturbing aura of Abel Ferrara's classic no-budget slasher flick Driller Killer. Scarifying. The murder-throb death disco finally opens up with the title track, but you won't find anything as accessible as "Stabbed in the Face" here.
