Wooden Shjips have yet to release a true full-length, but the Bay Area outfit has dropped enough singles to now put together Vol. 1, a six-track compilation. There's nothing at all original about the Shjips' brand of space-rock. But who cares? They pulsate with a fuzz and feedback ripped from all the best bands: Les Razilles Denudes, the Stooges, Suicide, Loop, Spacemen 3 and best of all, the Doors, man. That's right.
