Wooden Shjips worship their influences without an ounce of shame. And that's totally cool when we're talking about Loop, Spacemen 3, the Velvets, Suicide and the Doors. (BTW, don't trust anyone who disses the Doors.) This is grade-A space rock. Bass and drums adhere to a hypnotic repetition that's simple, clean and effective. Guitar, organ and vocals, meanwhile, ride the grooves, dipping in and out of wastoid reverb and insomniac distortion. This is definitely music for black lights.
