Wreckless Eric
Wreckless Eric
Released:
Jun 1978
Label:
Stiff Records
Highlighted by one of the great punk singles of all time, two-chord wonder "Whole Wide World," this 1978 debut from one of Stiff Records' lesser-known artists has all the popping rhythms and razor-sharp guitars a Buzzcocks fan could want. Decidedly more rough around the edges than Elvis Costello, Wreckless Eric's best songs are like crossing the Sonics with ? and the Mysterians, filtered through "Orgasm Addict." Island-friendly opener "Reconnez Cherie," punk gem "Rags and Tatters" and the best Clean song the Clean didn't write, "There Isn't Anything Else," are of particular interest.
