Food in the Belly
by Xavier Rudd
Released: Jan 2007
With his surfer good looks, whispery Paul Simon inflections and instrumental savvy, you might think that the food in Xavier Rudd's belly is Jack Johnson's banana pancakes. His songs are earthy observations connected by bluesy slides and the belief that it is our job as human beings to help make this troubled world a bit smaller, which for Rudd is most easily accomplished with a plank of foam between one's feet and the ocean. "Pockets of Peace" is a psychedelic standout.
