The most conventionally listenable track on Xiu Xiu's sixth studio album is the one with perhaps the most incomprehensible title: "You are pregnant you, you are dead." And, of course, it's Xiu Xiu, so you have to take "listenable" with a grain of salt; basically, what we mean is that there's sort of a beat and a structure to grab onto. But as their fans know, Xiu Xiu isn't for listeners, it's for lovers -- of post-(post-post-)rock (or maybe just post-music) experimentalism, of an avant-garde sense of adventure and of taskmaster bands that make you work for your auditory pleasure.
