Yellow Note

A member of New York's acclaimed Jungle Sky label, Yellow Note gives the often stone-faced, attitude-driven Drum 'n' Bass genre a much-needed dose of warmth and humor. Fast, furious breakbeats, whimsical vocal samples, and shimmery keyboards turn into a fractured mix of hip-hop vocal samples, Metal guitar crunch, and jazz trumpet. Then, out of nowhere, happy-go-lucky Funk-Dub grooves enter, complete with Reggae guitar splashes and swirling instrumental samples. Other tracks bring together heartwarming vocal choruses, blasts of sampled horns, flute melodies, hard-edged breakbeats and squiggling basslines. It's the best of both worlds: the vicious beats will make standing still an impossibility, while the spacious, soulful production will create a positive dance floor vibe.
