Many years and moods separate this 1983 recording of Yo Yo Ma playing the viola da gamba on his own, modern cello. He and accompanist Kenneth Cooper respect Bach a bit too much worshiping the notes into whimpers overly agonizing on the Adagios. It's a great reminder that even the mighty Ma was humbled at the feet of the master.
