All Our Kings Are Dead
by Young Guns
Released: Jul 2010
In both temperament and energy, Young Guns' debut is pure emo. The music, after all, is a deluge of desperation-stained anthems and first-person testifying about life, love and their myriad discontents. That said, the particular brand of emo the British act peddles isn't geared towards the Sunday hardcore matinee, but rather the corporate-sponsored arena concert. In other words, the big-time radio hooks and sing-along choruses jumping from "D.O.A.," "Weight of the World" and "Crystal Clear" share way more with, say, Bon Jovi or even U2 than they do anything found on Dischord Records.
