Trapped in the Julian Lennon syndrome, most people couldn't listen to Marley without hearing and seeing his father, and were subsequently disappointed by the less-than-pure brand of reggae he performed. But Marley simply can't shake his early musical training -- his work since has demonstrated the power of his faultless, soulful vocals, while his spot-on politics seem to have had some effect on his music and message.
