Augustus Pablo

A four-disc set of dub is a lot of dub no matter how you slice it. Yet there's a short list of artists who deserve the worship: Lee Perry, Marley, King Tubby, Keith Hudson and Augustus Pablo (aka Rockers). On Mystic World's first installment, with seminal cuts like "Baby I Love You So" -- which also features Tubby and singer Jacob Miller -- Pablo's status as innovator cannot be denied. For the uninitiated, that harmonica-like sound you hear punching through nearly every track is Pablo's melodica.
