Philadelphia-bred noise terrorists indulge in heavy, sprawling, head-nodding drones. Chords bend and wrap around your head like hallucinogenic blindfolds, while vocals exist only as a guide to the melody, often sounding backwards. But far from being Space Rock without the usual accompanying ethereality, Bardo Pond rely heavily upon improvised, distorted drones and blues chords. Hypnotically rolling drums are the only constant as guitars search out different sounds. Isobel Sollenberger’s flute pipes in and out, acting as a grounding instrument while reminding you about what planet on which you live. The end result is an experiment in massive guitar texture.
