At their best, Batidos bring an expansive, textured, electronic listening music washed with a few Latin influences. Instrumentalist Jay Rodriguez of the Groove Collective and New York DJ Ron Trent teamed up at the turn of the millenium for a collaboration that would explore the territory between Latin and house music. You might think the result would be explosive dance synergy, but what they found instead mined a mellower vein that lies somewhere between Latin jazz and electronic easy listening.
