New Jack superstars who got their start in New Edition, Bel Biv Devoe had a long string of singles throughout the early 1990s. Fusing love-centric lyricism with chunky beatscapes from producers Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Hank Shocklee, they pioneered a sound that would be co-opted by dozens of other artists.
