Bhundu Boys

About

Zimbabwe's Bhundu Boys make great party music that even unadventurous rock fans will dig for its awesome string plucking. A marriage of native Jit and western styles with social commentary, the music features so much non-stop jangle guitar that you may think the Byrds were reborn on the African prairie. The Boys became the toast of mid-1980s Britain and, while they haven't evolved much since then, their albums are still wonderful. They've had some fine collaborations with country and Celtic artists, and were saluted by Johnny Marr and Yves N'Djock on the Talking Heads' "Nothing But Flowers."
