A beatmaker best known for his work with indie rap icon Aesop Rock and other members of the Def Jux family, New York's Blockhead is revered for his signature production style, which fuses classic hip-hop with mellow downtempo sensibilities. In 2004, noted U.K. label Ninja Tune released Blockhead's solo debut, the mellow but dope Music By Cavelight. The following year he returned with his second full-length Downtown Science.
