2012 Top Pop Megamix
by Rachel Devitt | December 20, 2012
We don’t know about you, but our favorite way to relive the year that was is through its biggest, chart-toppingest, most oh-my-god-why-won't-they-die hit songs. And so we present to you our 2012 musical time capsule in the form of our megamix of the year’s top pop songs. So what happened this year? We laughed (Psy anyone?), we cried (Jason Mraz anyone?), we “Scream”-ed, we called him (maybe). We also developed ourselves a serious taste for arena-by-way-of-a-pub pop rock and pop folk anthems (see: fun., Phillip Phillips, Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons, Lumineers) and contemplative, melancholic R&B love jams (see: Miguel, Frank Ocean, Drake, Solange). We dabbled in indie quirkiness (see: Gotye, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran), but still loved ourselves some Big! Pop! Divas (see: P!nk! Katy Perry! Riri!). And it’s all a bit hazy, but we have a dim recollection of spending most of the year spinning (and drinking) our troubles away on the dancefloor, possibly flirting with one member of a boy band or another (see: like, every. other. freaking. track on this mix). One thing we definitely did not and aren’t gonna do? Get back together. Like, never, ever.
