2013 CMA Male Vocalists of the Year
by Cyndi Hoelzle | November 5, 2013
There's no doubt that, right now in country music, it's all about the boys. Each of the five guys up for Male Vocalist of the Year in this year's Country Music Awards could easily lay claim to the award, and each found success in his own way. Jason Aldean has connected with his small-town anthems and hick-hop redneck pride. Luke Bryan charmed his way to the top with life-of-the-party songs and that irresistible smile. Eric Church is the maverick of the bunch, refusing to play by the rules, and garnering a following inside and outside the country format. Blake Shelton's brash personality is laid out for the world to see, from his drunken tweets to his bro-mance with fellow Voice judge Adam Levine -- but still we can't get enough. Keith Urban takes a more sophisticated route, serving as one of country's best ambassadors in the music world. His passionate guitar playing and tousled good looks often steal the spotlight, but it's his clear tenor -- which seems to have gotten even richer since vocal cord surgery -- that won him the nomination. Check them all out in our playlist.
