The nominees for the 55th Grammy Awards -- coming to a TV near you February 10, 2013 -- were announced Wednesday night, and as always, they present a complex and sometimes confusing (but always interesting!) picture of popular music, from Frank Ocean to Mumford & Sons, Carly Rae Jepsen to fun. Here, we present our own little snapshot of the massive, sprawling results, gathering up critical darlings, commercial smashes and downright surprises from the worlds of pop, rock, alt/indie, hip-hop, country, R&B, Latin and more! It's a fascinating recap of some of the year's best music. We'll see who goes home with the gold.
