Artist Spolight: Darius Rucker

Always an enigma, Darius Rucker remains the only man able to claim that he was as successful a '90s jam band guitarist as he was a 2010s country solo act. Dabbling in bluegrass -- most successfully on his No. 1 hit, the Dylan via Old Crow Medicine Show "Wagon Wheel," -- and telling stories with an attention to detail learned from his friend and former tour-mate Brad Paisley, Rucker's progression might be best told by his own "This," a Charleston, SC 1966 single thanking God for everything that went wrong, because where he ended up is exactly right. Three years shy of his 50th birthday, it's possible that the former Blowfish is entering the prime of his career.
