Artist Spotlight: Mogwai
by Dan Weiss | January 28, 2014
Four Scottish instrumentalists, Mogwai have been celebrated since their inception in the late '90s, and they're still going strong with new album Rave Tapes. Part of their appeal is their live act, which carries on My Bloody Valentine's legacy of loudness. And part of it is their consistent album output. Mogwai have become masters of the slow build, from the white-noise intro of "Sine Wave" to the long-game epic "Christmas Steps," from the synth groove of "Remurdered" to the Neu! pastiche "Mexican Grand Prix." Where they'll go next is anyone's guess.
