Best New Country Debuts
by Nick Murray | September 4, 2013
Two-thirds of the way in, it looks like 2013 might go down as the year of the newcomer: Where Florida Georgia Line has ruled the charts -- their Nelly-featuring "Cruise" becoming the song of the summer -- Kacey Musgraves and Ashley Monroe (whose proper debut, the excellent Satisfied, was once an unfortunate label casualty) head down the stretch as year-end critic favorites. Meanwhile, a little below the surface, rookies like Charlie Worsham and Maggie Rose released records that were nearly as exciting, even if they failed to catch on in the press or over the radio. In their honor, we've compiled a playlist featuring tracks off some of our favorite debut LPs of the last few years, including the artists mentioned above as well as Hunter Hayes, Thompson Square, Kip Moore, The Band Perry and more.
