Seattle's annual Capitol Hill Block Party is one of the finest, most underrated jewels in the Pacific Northwest's summer-festival crown, a multiday, multivenue jam poised to take over the city July 20-22. They announced their initial lineup today; as eclectic as all these fetes try to be, this one truly has something for everyone, starting with your headliners: alt country queen Neko Case, dancefloor hedonists Major Lazer and indie-soul upstarts Fitz and the Tantrums. From there you've got your brainy rappers (Aesop Rock), your electronica ingénues (Grimes), your synth-funk lotharios (Dam-Funk), your post-punk snarlers (Cloud Nothings), your African art-rockers (Spoek Mathambo) and so forth. It's gonna be wild. Above, please enjoy a quickie playlist that tries to sum it all up. See you there.
