Celebrating Earth Day
by Stephanie Benson | April 22, 2014
Today is a day to stop and smell the roses, to truly appreciate this awe-inspiring planet we're so lucky to plant our feet on day in and day out (thank you, gravity!). The original Earth Day began in 1970 as a way to encourage Americans to learn about and fight for environmental reform. Forty-four years later, this is now a global movement (as it should be), as the state of our environment becomes increasingly uncertain. Here, with help from artists as disparate as Michael Jackson ("Earth Song," "Heal the World"), Swedish House Mafia ("Save the World") and Louis Armstrong ("What a Wonderful World"), our Earth Day playlist is meant to both inspire you and freak you out a little bit (R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World As We Know It [And I Feel Fine]") -- just the way Mother Nature intended.
