Celebrity Playlist: Jetta
Jetta is making her impact as one of the most promising artists to emerge in 2013. The Liverpool-raised, London-based singer broke into the industry as a backup singer for Paloma Faith and CeeLo Green, then earned a deal with Republic Records through her iPhone-shot home video for the anthem "Start a Riot." Her latest buzz track, the lilting "Feels Like Coming Home," is not only part of Google's Zeitgeist campaign, but has also inspired dozens of YouTube testimonials. As Jetta prepares for a tour with fellow up-and-comer John Newman, she assembled a playlist of her favorite tracks for Rhapsody. Her taste in music is just as eclectic as her sound, which mixes her powerful, arena-shaking vocals with introspective yet optimistic lyrics for a memorable brand of Zeitgeist pop. Her picks range from the muted harmonies of London Grammar and Banks to the electro-fied provocations of M.I.A. and the rangy, sardonic Brit-rock of Arctic Monkeys. "I live for music, it gives me so much inspiration," she says. "I love to listen wherever I am -- at home or on the road, these are the most played songs on my iPod right now."
