Cinco de Mayo: Musica Para Bailar
by Rachel Devitt | May 5, 2014
It's just another day in most of Mexico, but north of the border, Cinco de Mayo is cause for serious celebration. Specifically, it's an occasion to celebrate the diverse cultures of Mexican American communities in the United States and beyond. And you know what that means: Important explorations of heritage, an opportunity to raise awareness and, of course, party time! And every party needs a good soundtrack, right? Right. Last year, we gave you a playlist of songs about drinking and partying. So this year, we've assembled a collection of songs designed for getting down, for shaking your groove thing, for, you know, dancing. You'll find everything you need here to baila the night away, from inebriated cumbias to fierce club cuts, from wicked quebradita breakdowns to songs for strutting your folklorico stuff -- plus, plenty of slow, sweet conjuntos perfect for ending the night in the arms of your novio/a. Have fun!
