The year in music doesn't officially commence until Coachella releases its lineup, didn't you know? So here we are again with another massive list of artists readying their sounds and sunscreen to hit the stage (twice) in mid-April at the Coachella Music Festival held in Indio, Calif. The biggest story is perhaps the reunion of ATL hip-hop twosome Outkast, who have been on a break since the release of 2006's Idlewild. They join past Coachella players Muse and Arcade Fire in headlining spots. Meanwhile, maturing indie geeks may have to fight the young crowds to catch The Replacements, Neutral Milk Hotel and the Afghan Whigs, while old metalheads may make the pilgrimage just to see Motorhead and aging punks the Toy Dolls. Other top-shelf acts include Queens of the Stone Age, The Knife, Pharrell Williams, Beck, Lana Del Rey and anti-pop darling Lorde. Per usual, the lineup is also stacked with a staggering number of electronic heavies (Skrillex) and rookies (Disclosure), underrated rappers (Aloe Blacc), indie favorites (Broken Bells), festival perennials (MGMT) and plenty more. Get a big, juicy taste of the lineup here with choice cuts from over 100 acts scheduled to perform.
