Country-Pop Crossover Hits

These days, with the likes of Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift blithely leaping back and forth across the borders of country and pop, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that the country-pop crossover smash is historically a much more uncommon item than we might guess. While country singers have been hopping the fence to pop success since the first generation of Music City stars emerged, only a shockingly small percentage of Nashville's most towering figures have ever actually hit the Pop Top 10. To give you an idea, Hank Williams never came close, and Johnny Cash made it only once. Still, there have been more than enough who managed the feat over the years to gather together in one big crossover crowd, overflowing with both country cred and poppy pleasures.
