Country That Raps

by Chuck Eddy  |  April 15, 2013

After 5,000 think pieces about whether "Accidental Racist" was a good idea, everybody knows L.L. Cool J raps on Brad Paisley’s new album, Wheelhouse. What might be news is that Mat Kearney and Charlie Daniels rap on it, too -- or try to. Daniels, in fact, has been rapping since 1973. But except for his “Uneasy Rider" -- included for historical comparison –-- everything else on this hick-hop mix happened in the past decade: Jason Aldean with Ludacris, Nelly with Tim McGraw, Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy, Colt Ford with all y’all. And lotsa other cowboys and cowgirls (even Snoop Dogg!) taking rap into their own hands. Enjoy.
