The new documentary Sound City, which explores the storied past of the SoCal studio that birthed everything from After the Gold Rush to Fleetwood Mac to Holy Diver to Damn the Torpedoes to Nevermind, is definitely the best film ever directed by a beloved alt-rock drummer turned frontman. Yes, that'd be Dave Grohl, who helmed not only the flick but also the all-star soundtrack (Sir Paul! Rick Springfield!) that came out today.
