Friday Fan Mix: Songs That Get Stuck in Your Head
by Stephanie Benson | April 18, 2014
Welcome to Rhapsody's Friday Fan Mix, a series in which we compile song suggestions from our fans and followers on Facebook, Twitter and beyond. Last week, we gathered some of your most heartbreaking and ego-building breakup songs, but this week we look at music we can't quite split ways with ourselves -- the too-catchy-for-their-own-good tunes that worm their way into your brain, often without your conscious consent. Of course, big pop hits, like Lorde's "Royals" and Pharrell's "Happy," make this list because those songs are playing everywhere already, but timeless greats like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Bennie and the Jets" and "Surfin' Bird (Bird is the Word)" remain just as insanely irresistible. The inclusions of tracks like "Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)" and Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" make a case for silly monosyllables' affect on the brain, but, not to be outdone, melodramatic rockers Foreigner make this list twice. We do apologize if our mix drives you nuts, but we know it's hard to resist pressing play on this one.
