Avicii is enjoying a heck of a run right now. Last week, his single "Wake Me Up" topped Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and "Hey Brother" and "You Make Me" came in at No. 7 and 13, respectively. On the U.K. Top 40 Dance Singles, meanwhile, his "Hey Brother" topped the chart, and he also placed songs at No. 3, 14, 29 and 33. We can probably expect to be hearing a lot more of him. "You Make Me (Throttle Remix)" is the latest single to come from his album True, and it expertly splits the difference between the Swedish producer's newfound pop sensibilities and the percussive requirements of a big-tent DJ set.
Martin Garrix doesn't yet have Avicii's track record, but give him a minute. (After all, he's only 17 years old.) Garrix's "Animals" was a runaway smash last year, and now he's back with "Wizard," a stomping, strobe-lit collaboration with Jay Hardway that fires up the same kind of fight-or-flight reflexes. You could use similar terms to describe Dada Life's "This Machine Kills Ravers"; Wolfgang Gartner's scary-sounding "Piranha," meanwhile, turns out to be bursting with cheer, with a dizzy nod to Daft Punk at their most melodic. The beat doesn't stop there; we've also got new singles from Showtek, Zedd, Armin van Buuren, Cedric Gervais, Arty, Glowinthedark featuring Chuckie and more.
