Hot Rap Singles: December 2012
by Mosi Reeves | December 21, 2012
Our final rap singles playlist of 2012 is led by a pair of blog sensations that promise major-label debuts in the new year. A$AP Rocky's "F**kin' Problems" is already getting spins on radio and TV thanks its Drake cameo, and Odd Future lovers already know about Earl Sweatshirt's surprisingly good "Chum." (By the way, don't sleep on Joey Bada$$' "Waves.") You've probably heard Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything" a gazillion times already – it's one of the hottest rap songs of the season – as well as Juicy J's inescapable "Bandz A Make Her Dance," which gets a new remix. For more 2013 album-preview sounds, check out J. Cole ("Miss America"), 50 Cent ("My Life"), French Montana ("Marble Floors"), Ludacris ("Rest of My Life"), Big Sean ("Guap"), and Joe Budden ("She Don't Put It Down"). Chief Keef is rushing his Finally Rich to market on December 18 to capitalize on his buzz; the second single from it is "Love Sosa." And I refuse to make any predictions on whether Kirko Bangz ("Keep It Trill"), Red Cafe ("Champagne for the Pain") or Swizz Beatz ("Everyday Birthday") will finally drop their long-delayed albums.
