Hot R&B Singles, January 2014
by Mosi Reeves | January 23, 2014
Our first collection of 2014 R&B singles includes some major holdovers from last year. There's Mariah Carey's "The Art of Letting Go," which precedes a new album that she has promised for next month. (It seems doubtful, but after Beyonce's surprise album in December, it's certainly possible.) Chris Brown drops "Loyal" in two versions: a West Coast remix with Too Short, and an East Coast remix with French Montana. His album X doesn't have a release date yet, but it'll likely drop this year. Also in the TBD department are Akon ("So Blue") and U.K. adult soul singer Daley ("Broken"). Sebastian Mikael is capitalizing on the success of "Last Night" with Speechless, which is due February 4; his new single is "Forever." Also out February 4 is Toni Braxton & Babyface's Love, Marriage and Divorce; their new single is "Where Did We Go Wrong." American Idol 2013 winner Candice Glover drops her debut, Music Speaks, on February 18, and its latest single is "Cried." August Alsina has two singles, "Numb" and "Make It Home," from Testimony, which is scheduled for April 15. Finally, we've got tracks from newcomers like Young & Sick, Tanika, SoMo and more.
