Hot R&B Singles: May 2014

by Mosi Reeves  |  May 15, 2014

Usher kicks off this edition of Hot R&B Singles with the first single from his forthcoming album, "Good Kisser." Trey Songz has been dropping digital singles in the buildup to his July 1 album, Trigga: This go-round brings "SmartPhones," "Ordinary" and "Foreign." The-Dream has left Def Jam and is now on Capitol Records, and his first single for the label, "Black," is a departure from his usual "IV Play" obsessions. Jazmine Sullivan brings her first new music in four years with "Dumb." Keyshia Cole is back with "Next Time (Won't Give My Heart Away)" from the forthcoming Point of No Return. Marsha Ambrosius drops "Run" from Friends & Lovers, which is scheduled for this fall. Joe sings with Kelly Rowland on "Love & Sex Pt. 2." While we wait for Chris Brown to get out of jail, enjoy another version of his "Loyal" hit, this time with a guest verse from Tyga. And stop putting Purple Rain on repeat and give Prince's new "The Breakdown" a chance. It's actually pretty good.
