Latin Fall Preview
by Judy Cantor-Navas | August 23, 2014
For a while now, a few artists have claimed the spotlight in Latin music and stayed there. With due credit to those stars, it's almost fall — a season associated with fresh air. And on the Latin side, debut albums and new music by notable artists who may have not beaten a path up and down the charts are here or on their way.
Our list of artists to hear now includes Diana Fuentes, a singer-songwriter whose Planeta Planetario — produced by her husband, Eduardo Cabra Martinez of Calle 13 fame — features her sweet voice on an album of folk pop songs, jazzy vocals and urban fusion. Colombian alt pop singer Esteman teams with Mexico's sultry Carla Morrison on a playful pop duet. This year's Latin alternative phenom, Argentina’s El Mato a un Policia Motorizado, perform a track from their new album, La Dinastia Scorpio. Angolan artist Coréon Dú previews his upcoming full-length debut in Spanish, and Cubans Gente de Zona follow “Bailando” — their winning Enrique Iglesias collaboration — with a dance track featuring Chino y Nacho and Los Cadillacs.
