Latin Music for Children

by Judy Cantor-Navas  |  October 7, 2013

Latin culture's exceptionally rich and diverse musical treasures have created an aural legacy passed down from one generation to the next. Today, Spanish-language children's music is more popular in the U.S. than ever, geared toward native speakers and Spanish-language learners alike. On this playlist, we honor Latin children's music icons like José-Luis Orozco, who for nearly half a century has kept kids dancing while learning their ABCs; Argentina's iconic storyteller María Elena Walsh; and Dan Zanes, a gringo pied piper whose Spanish songs shine. We also feature acts who share the musical heritage of their native countries (Sol y Canto, Jose Conde of Baby Loves Salsa), and put a spotlight on new artists (like Lucky Diaz and Mister G) who are bringing a new wave of bilingual kiddie music to hip tots and their parents.
