Lollapalooza 1993 Revisited
by Dan Weiss | May 29, 2013
Lollapalooza was becoming more and more iconic and symbolic of the now alternative-conquered era in 1993. The famed alternative rock festival's third year boasted acts as disparate as Alice in Chains and Mutabaruka, while making stars of oddballs like Fishbone and Primus next to hard-line groundbreakers like Rage Against the Machine and Arrested Development. Babes in Toyland ushered in the riot grrrl movement from the main stage and a major label, while bands like Girls Against Boys, Unrest, Tsunami and Kim Gordon's side outfit Free Kitten performed noise/melody mixology experiments from the sidelines.
