Lollapalooza has evolved from an alt rock festival to an eclectic batch of musical signifiers in a blender to an all-out monastery of sound. The 2013 edition contains upward of 100 acts of all stripes, and even the headliners are somewhat of a 12-headed monster with the new Nine Inch Nails lineup at one end and Jack Johnson at the other. The appended playlist offers a sampling of the enormous event, which includes songwriters as wacky as Lianne La Havas and rappers as iconoclastic as Azealia Banks, alongside festival mainstays like Phoenix and The Lumineers. Elsewhere, The Orwells bring the rock, Kendrick Lamar ushers in moody vibes, and Tegan and Sara's New Wave pop bursts with confetti. Take your pick or take it all.
