The legendary Hoboken, N.J., concert venue Maxwell's is shutting down this summer in order to go out on top, and it deserves tribute, by and large for fostering great local bands like The Feelies or Yo La Tengo -- the latter of whom camped out there for eight nights a year as a Hanukkah blitz -- as well as nurturing big-leaguers like Nirvana, R.E.M. and My Chemical Romance early on. This tribute playlist (including the owners' work in The Bongos and The Individuals) focuses on artists who really put their signature on the place, from Imperial Teen and Meat Puppets) who recorded live albums there) to beloved songwriters like The Mountain Goats and Elliott Smith (who made themselves at home while adoring fans followed suit). And oh yes, someone named Bruce Springsteen filmed his "Glory Days" video there.
