Music for Team Brazil
by Judy Cantor-Navas | June 15, 2014
Even if you're not a soccer fan, this summer's 2014 World Cup Brazil is a great excuse to listen to a lot of Brazilian music. On this salute to Brazil's musical players, artists including Seu Jorge, Claudia Leitte, Sérgio Mendes, Os Mutantes and Karol Conka are featured on songs created for or timed to this year's global tournament. Songs like "O Futebol" by Chico Buarque and "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" by Michel Teló have forever tied the artists to the game. And on the other hand, many of the multigenerational performers and songs in styles from bossa nova to baile funk have nothing to do with soccer -- they simply prove that, where music is concerned, Brazil is always a winner.
