Music for Walking in Space

by Linda Ryan  |  July 20, 2014

On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy, carrying Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin on a mission to the moon. The core of their mission was to execute a manned lunar landing, and then return to Earth. Four days later, on July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon, while their designated driver, Michael Collins, piloted Apollo 11's command spacecraft until the two were ready to come back in. Together, the three made history as an estimated 530 million people watched Armstrong's televised image and heard his voice as he took "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the famous walk on the moon, and we thought we'd put together a playlist of songs to mark the occasion. Too bad we can't beam it back through time so Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong could enjoy it themselves on that unforgettable day.
