New Release Sampler, 2/25/14

by Linda Ryan  |  March 1, 2014

Another great week for music with new releases from Beck, Dierks Bentley, Neneh Cherry, Schoolboy Q and more. Everyone's favorite slacker is back with Morning Phase, a sun's-coming-up, super-chill sequel of sorts to 2002's Sea Change. Meanwhile, Dierks Bentley returns with Riser, an album that chronicles the most momentous times in his life, from his happiest (his son being born) to his saddest (his father dying). Neneh Cherry, of "Buffalo Stance" fame, has come a long way from her MTV days, as tracks like "Naked" and "Out of the Black" (which features pop siren Robyn), off her new Blank Project, reveal. Then there's Los Angeles rapper Schoolboy Q's third album, Oxymoron, a gritty, in-your-face release featuring songs with Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Raekwon and more. And don't overlook People I've Known, Places I've Been from honky-tonk master Dale Watson, plus new singles from Robert Glasper and Robin Thicke.
