New Release Sampler, 3/25/14

by Linda Ryan  |  March 29, 2014

Spring is officially here, and much like the flowers in your garden, a crop of new releases has sprung up seemingly out of nowhere. Shakira's newest album hits this week, and Shakira. marks the first time the Voice judge hasn't written all of her own songs. Additionally, she duets with Voice co-star Blake Shelton, Rihanna, and reggae-tinged pop group Magic. If you like a little beach sand in your country music, definitely check out Jerrod Niemann's High Noon, a set filled with laid-back songs about sun, summer lovin' and daytime drinking. For something a little more classic, check out Johnny Cash's just-released "lost" album, Out Among the Stars. After a string of stark, downright bleak posthumous albums, it's a refreshingly upbeat look at the country icon.

Want something funkier you can dance to? Check out Karmin's [Pulses] or 3BallMTY's Globall. We've also got new hip-hop from Sage the Gemini; alt rock from Tokyo Police Club and The Hold Steady; a 40th anniversary version of Elton John's 1973 classic, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road; and singles from Lykke Li, Secret Sisters, Cash Cash and more. Just hit play!
