New Release Sampler, 7/15/14

by Linda Ryan  |  July 15, 2014

Starting off this week's roundup of new releases is Jason Mraz's striking new effort, YES!, and we're certain you will, once again, fall for his airy collaboration with Raining Jane. But, hey -- perhaps you just want to mope for a little while. In that case, go straight to Morrissey's new World Peace Is None of Your Business. Pulsating drums and atmospheric guitar riffs dot the singer's 10th solo release, giving the Mozzer a whole new musical landscape to grumble over. All alt rock fans should also check out Rise Against's seventh album, The Black Market. Politics? Personal musings? It's all here, wrapped in barbed guitar licks. In R&B news, singer Marsha Ambrosius' Friends & Lovers is an album every fan of sultry modern soul should hear. Speaking of modern soul, Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour, featuring hit "Stay With Me," has finally been made available for streaming. As for new singles, well, we've got plenty of those, too. Check out new tunes from Estelle, I the Mighty and Cold War Kids, among many others. Just hit play to get caught up on all of this week's new releases.
