Pendulum, Australia's dark masters of industrial strength drum 'n' bass, prove that they're no purists on their third album, Immersion. The breakbeats and bass lines are the only link to jungle's underground club culture, as songs like "Watercolour" put Auto-Tuned choruses and cascading synthesizers in the service of stadium-grade pomp. The Prodigy's Liam Howlett guests, as do Swedish metal act In Flames. Despite the d 'n' b cadences, this is alt-rock at its most bombastic.
