Paramore's Greatest Hits
by Evan Lucy | April 18, 2013
When Paramore were slugging it out on the hot-pink Shiragirl Stage on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour, few could have predicted the Tennessee pop punkers would one day be mainstream darlings. But that's where Hayley Williams and her bandmates find themselves these days thanks to a string of successful albums (Williams' high-profile hook on B.o.B.'s "Airplanes" sure didn't hurt either). Their newest, this month's Paramore, is set to debut in the top spot on the Billboard 200 and should serve as proof that there is such a thing as life after emo. Down two members (principal songwriter Josh Farro and his brother, drummer Zac, who left amid public controversy in late 2010) but with a renewed sense of purpose and ambition, the group pushed itself beyond simply rewriting "Misery Business" -- and we're all thankful for that.
From the proggy, modern-rock first single "Now" to the snappy, speedy punk of "Anklebiters" and aw-shucks charm of the No Doubt-leaning "Still Into You," Paramore is a collection of fearless, forward-thinking anthems that showcases the pint-sized Williams' set of showstopping pipes and the band's dogged determination. Dive into the best the group has to offer with this playlist, featuring hits like "Crushcrushcrush" and "The Only Exception," along with deeper cuts and choice tracks from the new record. Who knew misery could sound so sweet?
