Rolling Stone's Top 100 Country Songs of All Time
by Linda Ryan | June 9, 2014
Country music fans probably know that Rolling Stone has just launched RollingStoneCountry.com, an online music site dedicated to all things country. Included in the debut "issue" is the magazine's take on the 100 greatest country songs of all time, which, perhaps surprisingly, included a lot of old-school honky-tonkers and Western Swing-ers. And while Hank Williams might not be a surprise, artists from that era such as D.L. Menard and Emmett Miller might be. With decades of commercial country artists and unsung Texas singer-songwriters, as well as some of country music's earliest forefathers, it seems like Rolling Stone tried hard to strike an interesting balance. Of course, there are probably songs you would add and some you'd subtract; hit play and see how Rolling Stone's list measures up to your own.
